  Now that things have settled down down just a little bit, Lucky is doing just great! He is a beautiful boy inside and out!! His personality is as pure and sweet as they come. He's a tad ruff around the edges yet, but considering where he has come from, and what he has already endured in his short life time,...he's just, ... well,.. a "Lucky boy!" He loves other dogs, playing is his life right now,... he tosses a stuffed toy way up in the air and then runs underneath it, and spins around to catch it before it hits the ground!! For being as tall and long legged as he is, he sure is quick and light on his feet(which are huge!) He's not a barker, at all, but I had to give him a short time out, in his crate, the other night as he was playing full speed at 11:30 pm,... LOL! and as I was sitting at my computer, in another room, I could her Him start to howl,.. that lonley,... heart wrenching howl,....needless to say the time out didn't last very long, and he found a nice quite blanket to lay on next to my computer! I do crate him when we are gone, which he obliges gracefully. He has no issues thus far, of any kind, regarding food, toys, or people. In one of the photos you can see the small scars on the top of his head, courtesy of his previous owner,.... other than that, he carries no other scars of a heavy hand,.. of any other blunt object,.. House training is going quite well, even after only a couple of days, but is on going as with any puppy. They estimated his age between 1 and 2 years, he can't be any more than that, I am guessing maybe even younger, closer to a year. His teeth are pearly white, but good sized. If you would have asked me about him a day ago, you may have gotten a completely different story,.. LOL!! I thought to ,myself,. "Oh my gosh, What have I gotten myself into???" This dog is a lunatic? Are all the GSP's like this?? I have had many young setters come through our house, and none have been as "Amped" as this guy!!!! I really thought I really thought I had gotten in over my head this time,..( of course I would never admit to anyone!) It seems that Pointers ,of any kind, are definately a different "flavor" from, any English Setter that I have ever met! Their enthusiasum , personality traits and all that goes with any bird dog could easily be misunderdstood, and therefore mishandled, rulsting in a bad situation for all. Bless all of you that rescue GSP's, they are not a dog for everyone,..and need to be placed into fur-ever homes, only by folks that have experience with this breed. Who ever adopts Lucky, will be not only be gettng a life long friend, but a beautiul bird dog as well!! posted by Susan West - Reeser at 7:11 AM 0 comments

 I recieved this in an Email, ...on Sunday evening I'm a rescuer in Kansas City who also does frequent transports. I've seen your name in connection with several transports, and am wondering if your group could possibly help the boy whose picture is below. I was contacted by a family who rescued him from a busy highway, can't keep him and need to find him a place immediately. He's skinny and seems frightened, as if he has been beaten. Any help you can give is much appreciated!! Thanks so much, Nancy When I spoke to Nancy on the phone, Lucky's situation was much worse than it seemed in the email,.. I told Nancy I would be down to KC. in the Morning to pick him up,... as luck did have it, I was without a Foster,..."Lucky", could stay at our house for a little while,.. When I hung up the phone, ...I came back around to reality, and thought,.. Man, ...I hope Wisconsin German Shorthair rescue can take him??? If not i was prepared to see to it that "Lucky" found a good home,.. So here he is,..
